If there's one must-see in Crete, it's the Palace of Knossos – the island's most popular attraction. It's amazing to see the different rooms from the Minoan period, as well as the aqueduct and the clay jars made by the Minoans.' See the Venetian lion fountain, a 17th-century monument and significant reference point for locals. Enjoy free time for shopping at the open-air market, where you can mingle with locals and sample fresh produce. If shopping's not your thing, you can end the day with a relaxing stroll around the Venetian harbour.
