If you've seen Cocktail, you'll remember Tom Cruise and his leading lady enjoying a moment at Dunn's River Falls. And on this half-day tour you'll get to scale one of Jamaica's top natural attractions where you'll leave both astounded and slightly soaked – but it's well worth the journey.

Imagine a 180-metre staircase of rock with water thundering down it and you get the idea of Dunn's River Falls - one of the few waterfalls on earth to wash straight out to sea. But people don't congregate here to just admire them – they scale them – and luckily it's an easy scramble to the summit.

You'll join a guide-led conga chain to get to the top and anyone, from toddlers to seniors, can have a go. But, if you don't fancy the climb, you can follow the trails either side or stay at the base relaxing in the natural pools.

De reisleidster was aardig, de Tour was niet duur en je krijgt er vrij veel voor. Wat we minder vonden is dat we ongepland langs een winkel gingen met op aanbeveling van de gids eerlijke prijzen voor lokale rum. Hier een fles gekocht voor 85 dollar waar nog tax overheen kwam aan de kassa. Prijzig maar het zal wel heel goed zijn, toch? Na een Google sessie bij terugkomst koop je deze fles thuis voor 30 euro. Dan ben je dus vrij hard belazerd als onderdeel van een georganiseerde tour.

Hele leuke excursie. Onze chauffeur raadde ons aan alle spullen in de bus te laten. Zwemkleding aan telefoon in plastic hoesje en waterschoenen aan. Of je huurt kluisje. Klim vanaf het strand naar de top. Was gelukkig rustig. Check vooraf of er een cruiseschip ligt in Ocho Rios want hoorde van anderen dat zij vanwege drukte niet naar de top zijn geweest wat erg jammer is. Maar deze excursie is alleen Dunn’s River Fall. Zeker aanrader.

Nature is really beautiful and definitelly worth to see, anyhow trip is very short so you dont really get enough time to enjoy surrounding and do shopping of souveniers. Beside that price of this trip is quite high taking into account time you have there to spent. Must is to have watershoes and waterproof case for your phone, possible to purchase them at location itself.

De gids was super enthousiast, en we hebben vroeg geboekt rond 10 iir en dat scheelt als er 2 cruise schepen aochtends aanmeren. Na 12 uur heb je lange rijen.

Duur uitje en lange rit voor een half uurtje klimmen met wat spetters. Er zijn onderweg veel toeristen waardoor het maken van foto’s ook niet makkelijk is. Ondanks dit alles, wel aan te raden als je toch in het land bent.
