Immerse yourself in the Japanese tea ceremony, a tradition rooted in Zen Buddhism and celebrated in Kyoto. In the art of preparing matcha (powdered green tea), every mindful gesture carries deep significance. Your host, Rie, a Kyoto native, is a second-degree instructor of the Urasenke School of tea ceremony. In 2015, she founded her own tea ceremony business to share the beauty of this traditional culture.
Savor organic Uji matcha prepared by Rie before enjoying a hands-on tea-making lesson and a traditional Japanese sweet. For deeper cultural immersion, you will be wearing a classic kimono during the experience, reflecting the elegance and traditions of the tea ceremony. The kimono is worn only for the session and returned before you leave.
The experience features the tea ceremony, tasting, brewing, and kimono-wearing package.
