Discover the amazing summit of the Mount Etna crater on a unique trekking experience

Beskrivelse

On board special 4x4 vehicles you will climb along the panoramic road of the north side of Etna through ancient craters and recent lava flows up to an altitude of 2960 meters. Subsequently the ascent of 3km on foot will begin on a path made up of bombs and volcanic slag. The difference in altitude to be covered uphill will be 330 meters until you reach the real Central Crater of Etna, at an altitude of 3300 meters, during the climb you will take breaks (for explanations and refreshments). Once at the summit, we stop to admire the grandeur and uniqueness of the volcanic environment, the processes connected to it and the spectacular view from the roof of Sicily (visibility may vary depending on the weather or volcanic conditions). The 2km descent will take place along the same route taken uphill, only the last stretch will take place inside small channels made up of soft and friable volcanic slag, on which it is possible to walk easily without major problems by adopting the necessary precautions. Returning to an altitude of 2825 meters you will board the 4x4 vehicles for the return to Piano Provenzana.

This tour is suggested for people in good physical condition.

This experience is weather-dependent
This experience requires a minimum of 6 participants
The minimum age to attend this excursion is 13 years old
The transport service from an altitude of 1800m to an altitude of 2800m at a cost of €50 per person is not included in the price, it must be paid on the spot to the guide who will take care of paying for the transport for you
Optional transport with a special off-road vehicle (downhill) from an altitude of 2800m to an altitude of 1800m will be available at the extra cost of €20 per person, inform the guide on site if you decide to use the service
It's strongly advised you to also bring with you snacks, trekking sticks, a backpack, sunglasses, sunscreen, gloves and heat (depending on the season), spare socks and a spare t-shirt, a handkerchief or a bandana (to protect against volcanic dust or gases)
Please remember to bring with you: packed lunch, layered clothing (short-sleeved shirt - long-sleeved thermal shirt - fleece or sweatshirt), hiking shoes anorak jacket and water (minimum 1,5l)
This excursion is for excursionists accustomed to walking at altitude
Trekking requires discrete physical preparation and attention during the activity
Pregnant women who have passed the third month of pregnancy are not allowed to take part in the activity
The excursion is not suited to people that suffer from cardio-vascular problems, breathing problems or hypertension
Please make sure to be well aware of your own health conditions on the day of the experience: if necessary, let the guide know about them, in order to reduce the occurrence of any problems and to avoid any risks
The excursion could be subjected to variations in case of changes of the environmental, climatic or volcanic conditions that may undermine the safety of the entire group
Please note that the transportation to reach the beginning of the trail is not included in the excursion price, but has to be paid on location. There is the possibility to pay it by card, but it's preferred paying it by cash
