Join this 2-day tour from Hurghada and discover the highlights of Luxor. Described as one of the world's greatest open-air museums, Luxor is home to many iconic jewels like Karnak Temple, the Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut Temple and Luxor Temple with the amazing Sphinx Avenue.

Day one: you'll start your journey with a drive towards Luxor along the Red Sea coast and through the Eastern Desert until reaching the Nile Valley. After an approximately four-hour drive, you'll stop at the impressive Karnak Temple, a sprawling complex of towering temples, followed by Luxor Temple with the Sphinx Avenue. You'll have time to rest your legs and tuck into lunch before you check in at Hotel Steigenberger or Iberotel Luxor. In the evening, you'll enjoy the sound and light show at Karnak temple, recounting the history of Thebes and the lives of the pharaohs who built sanctuaries, courts, statues, and obelisks in honor of Amun. Back to the hotel in Luxor for dinner and overnight.

Day two: check out from the hotel and drive towards Luxor West Bank to visit the Valley of the Kings. You'll enter three of its 63 royal tombs and take in the ancient Mortuary Temple of Hatshepsut and Colossi of Memnon, two monumental statues of equally monumental size. Next, you'll experience the Nile onboard a felucca, sailing from Luxor West Bank to East Bank towards the hotel. A motorboat is an alternative during windy days. Enjoy a delicious set-menu lunch at the hotel and drive back to Hurghada.

We thought the pace of the weekend was perfect. We weren’t rushed. Having Mohamed Zaher as our guide meant we could ask as many questions as we liked and stay longer in places if we wished. He was friendly and knowledgeable too. We consistently felt ‘looked after’ by him and our driver Ahmed. We felt the trips itinerary allowed us to visit the places we’d read about without feeling we’d left anything out.

We enjoyed everything we did and our tour guide Mohammed was exceptional! He was organised, informative, clean, knowledgeable, respectful and we couldn’t have asked for more.

The driver Rapea was excellent and the guide Medhat was friendly, knowledgeable and interesting. The sites of Luxor were amazing.

Loved all the cultural bits, our guide was fantastic, but being left at an appalling hotel for an entire afternoon while we awaited the evening Sound and Light Show at the Karnak Temple did not justify the price difference between the overnight and the day trip.

Quality of minibus, driver and guide was very good. Communication of our food and drink allowance was misleading and led to arguments with hotel staff. This problem could be removed by giving customers a voucher explaining what they were entitled to.

Please, note that the entrance tickets to the Tomb of Tutankhamun require a fee of around 700 EGP for adults and 350 EGP for children under 12. Entrance fees to the Tomb of Ramses VI are around 220 EGP for adults and 110 EGP for children under 12

Please note that the shared tour option is only available on selected dates. The private tour takes place every day. If you book a private tour for only one person, you must have a minimum age of 12 years. The 6-people private group is open to a maximum of 15 participants
Please note that the tour will be led in English if the minimum number of people for the tour in the other languages is not met
Infants (age 0-1) can join for free
Tour duration and pickup time are simply guidelines subject to change due to operational conditions and your hotel location
Payment at the Valley of the Kings are only available by card
