In addition, Zoo Tampa is a champion for wildlife, dedicated to the conservation of endangered and threatened species. Most notably, it is home to one of only four manatee rehabilitation centers in the United States, treating over 500 manatees since 1991. It is also the number one facility in the world for the care for sick and injured endangered Florida panthers.
