The Wizard of Oz at the Sphere transforms a cinematic classic into a fully immersive experience, placing audiences at the heart of the story. Originally filmed for a traditional 4:3 screen in the 1930s, the movie is now projected across the Sphere's vast 160,000-square-foot interior display plane. The screen extends above, around and beyond your field of vision, creating a truly all-encompassing visual environment.
The experience is further enhanced by the Sphere's state-of-the-art audio system, featuring 167,000 programmable speakers. The film's original mono soundtrack has been re-recorded to deliver greater clarity while preserving the cast's iconic vocal performances. This advanced technology allows sound to move seamlessly throughout the venue, surrounding you with every note, dialogue and effect.
To maximise immersion, a range of multi-sensory 4D effects has been integrated throughout the experience. High-velocity wind arrays, atmospheric fog, towering fire bursts and infrasound haptic seats combine to bring key moments to life. Rather than simply watching the film, you'll feel as though you're stepping into the world of Oz alongside its unforgettable characters.
