At 1,160 metres above sea level, it marks the beginning of the foothills of the Atlas Mountains. Just beyond Agadir, the road slows down and the landscape changes pace. “Tiout is where life still follows the rhythm of the palms,” says Hassan, one of our expert local guides. “People stop to talk, share tea and let the day unfold.” You'll feel it as soon as you arrive. After passing argan trees — sometimes with goats balanced up in their branches — you'll be welcomed into a local home for sweet mint tea, poured slowly just as Moroccan tradition require. From here, you'll go for a walk through Tiout's oasis, which brings you into village life and surrounds you with swaying palm trees.Lunch is served at a traditional Kasbah in Tiout, a simple setting where you'll tuck in to chicken tajine, vegetable and meat couscous and a seasonal fruit plate to finish. Next, your journey continues to the walled town of Taroudant. With your guide leading the way, you'll walk along the old ramparts, wander through the medina and check out the souk, a marketplace where you can pick up souvenirs like lanterns and spices.On the return to Agadir, there's one final stop at Domaine Villate Limoune. As you stroll through the orange groves with your local guide, you'll learn how the fruit is grown and harvested, before tasting fresh juice straight from the source. It's a calm, fitting end to a day shaped by people, places and the small details that stay with you long after the road leads back to the coast.

Essaouira is like a laidback, coastal cousin to the bold and boisterous Marrakech, but with full-on ancient charm credentials. You'll have plenty of time to wander inside the whitewashed Medina walls of this UNESCO-listed old town, which is brimming with age-old souks and artistic flair. As Youssef, a local expert guide, explains, “The French influence means that unlike many labyrinth-like medinas, this one has a grid layout, making it easy to find your way around the artsy stalls, spice souks and cafes.”You'll start your day with an early pick-up from your hotel in Agadir and make a couple of photo and coffee stops along the way. Your final pitstop is at the Argan Cooperative, where you'll hear about how luxury beauty products are made from the locally produced argan oil. Plus, you'll taste a few delicacies like olive oil, honey and mint tea. Then, it's onto the main event, a guided tour of Essaouira.This city's been a hub for writers, musicians and artists since the 1960s, so it's no surprise this place is loaded with tucked-away galleries and workshops, which you'll be able to check out as you tour the port, market and jewellery district. Inside the medina, there's a table at a restaurant waiting for you with the freshest catch of the day to tuck into, before some free time to roam the markets. Youseff shares his top tip, “at the spice souk look for stalls selling ras el hanout (a Moroccan spice mix) and ask for the ‘local blend' rather than the tourist jars – they'll often mix it fresh for you, and you can learn about each ingredient." After some friendly haggling with the locals, you might even have time for a walk along the beach before heading back to for your bus.

Morocco's Atlantic Ocean coastline is the star of this tour. Its mellow atmosphere, narrow winding streets laden with kaleidoscopic carpets, peeling-paint houses with and heavy old wooden doors make it a wonderful place to wander around. Walk the ramparts of the harbour, known as the Skala, where electric-blue boats bob in the water, or discover the atmospheric medina. Consider your Morocco morning sorted. This half-day trip packs in a scenic drive, an old walled city beneath the Atlas peaks and a medina made for wandering.
