This morning tour offers a scenic snapshot of rural Croatian life. You'll take a panoramic drive into the Dalmatian countryside, stopping by the rural villages of Orašac and Ljubač, before rounding off with a tasting of some of the region's finest produce. Ivana, one of our local guides, says, ‘Because Dubrovnik is so spectacular, many visitors miss out on what's outside it. But the rich, fertile soil here produces some of the best olive oil, tomatoes and wine in the country.'
Kick off in Orašac, where you'll head straight to Dubelj – a family-run olive oil mill and estate. Here, you'll witness first-hand the traditional olive oil production process, which has been passed down from generation to generation. Nika, another of our local guides, says, ‘The warm greeting and sheer passion of the Dubelj family makes this estate so special. You'll get to taste their oil, paired with other homemade products, such as cheese and liqueurs.'
Then, it's off to Ljubač, a hillside hamlet with fewer than a hundred inhabitants. On the edge of the village is the Country Home Musladin, your next stop. With a welcome drink in hand, you'll enjoy a tour of the farm and grounds, where you'll learn about sustainable practices and the local ecosystem they strive to preserve. And you won't go hungry here, finishing off the tour with tasty local snacks – smoked ham, olives and freshly prepared vegetables to name but a few.
