Monkeys aren't the only thing you'll see swinging through the trees on this day out. At Punta Cana's premier primate park, you can fly through the forest canopy too. Head to Monkeyland's spectacular mountain surrounds to spot super-cute squirrel monkeys and then hit the heights for a thrilling 12-wire zipline course.

Kick off with a visit to Casa del Coco to learn all about coconut oil and other organic Dominican products. You'll get to taste a few of them along with the national tipple, mamajuana, too. Suitably refreshed, we'll then head through acres of lush green rainforest and along mountain slopes towards Monkeyland.

Home to hundreds of chattering squirrel monkeys, you'll see these friendly creatures at play in their natural surroundings as you tour the botanical gardens. And if you really want to make it a wild day out, you can upgrade your ticket to include the park's action-packed zipline course – one of the longest in the Caribbean – or a buggy ride and river swim.

De excursie was perfect. Alles in orde. De ziplining was super tof en Monkeyland, met al de aapjes die rond je springen, was ook super tof. Natuurlijk, foto's veel te duur zoals overal in de Dominicaanse Republiek, maar je wil ze wel hebben. In de beschrijving stond dat er geen eten inbegrepen was maar we kregen een hotdog, een empanada en wat fruit. Drank was ook voorzien. We kregen zelfs een extra flesje water mee voor de ziplining.

Wij deden monkeyland en zipline in combi. De uitleg vooraf bij zipline was erg goed. De medewerkers op de platforms waren erg attent. Grote aanrader. De fotomomenten zijn onduidelijk Apen komen niet voor in DR, dus geimporteerde beesten. De medewerkers daar waren top. Leuke show met interactie met het publiek. Fotoshoots daar beter.

We kregen informatie over het dorp en hoe mensen echt leven. Dat was interessant. Bij de aapjes zelf heb je amper tijd om zelf foto’s te maken. Je wordt per familie naast elkaar gezet, krijgt een bakje met beetje eten erin en ze leggen wat eten op je hoofd. Zo komen de aapjes, maken zij foto’s en de aapjes rennen door naar de volgende familie. Je bent 15 a 30 minuten bij de aapjes. Meer niet.
