Join a 90-minute ride through Cologne and learn more about the eventful history of the city, associations and personalities. During the tour, pass many of the city's highlights, including the cathedral, the historic city wall, the banks of the Rhine including Rheinauhafen, the zoo and the Mediapark.

Take advantage of your hop-on hop-off ticket and leave the bus at one of the 14 stops, explore the surrounding highlights on foot or visit one of Cologn's many museums, then simply get on the next bus.

The bus drove through uninteresting commercial areas. The bus broke down at a bus stop, the driver did not tell anyone, and after waiting 40 minutes, I inquired and was told a replacement bus was on the way. It arrived and did not move for a further 20 minutes as it had to fit in to the schedule. A complete waste of money.

While this bus did what it said on the tin, the basic problem is that there is not a great deal of "interesting Cologne" that can be seen by bus. All of the centre is a pedestrian zone. Added to this was that, despite fine weather, the roof was kept on the bus, further restricting visibility. The Cathedral was awesome and our walk around its immediate vicinity enjoyable. However, I would give the bus trip a miss.

We enjoyed a trip on the Hop on Hop off tour. As we were short on time in the city the trip enabled us to see most of the sites from the bus. The information through the headphones was clear.

We were at the front of the queue at 9.35am for the 10am bus - 1st bus of the day but it was late arriving. We'd been told the round trip would take 1.5 hours ....it took longer despite the driver missing out some parts, due to traffic. Apart from the cathedral (seen by foot) and the area near the zoo, Cologne is an ugly city with nothing of notable interest to see, so it wasn't a pleasurable tour at all. The driver was friendly enough when we got on the bus. My headphones/equipment didn't work.

Pretty boring tour, better research first and just go to individual places that might interest you.
