Montserrat Mountain rises 4,000 feet above Montserrat National Park, 60 km northwest of Barcelona. The massif is recognizable by its "serrated" skyline and rounded peaks shaped by millions of years of erosion.

Visit the Benedictine monastery of Santa Maria de Montserrat, located 2,380 feet above sea level. This spiritual retreat has existed for almost a thousand years. Inside the basilica, see the Virgin of Montserrat (the "Black Madonna"), patron saint of Catalonia. Explore the monastery surroundings and enjoy spectacular views of the Natural Park. Visit the Holy Cave, where the Virgin reportedly appeared, a popular pilgrimage site.

In the afternoon, travel to the Penedès region to visit one of the oldest wineries, dating back to the 15th Century, where you will have the chance to learn about the cava and wine productions.
