Cairo’s magic is calling and this day trip from Hurghada puts you right in the heart of it. After an overnight desert drive, you’ll arrive at the Giza Plateau and come face-to-face with the Giza Pyramids and the Great Sphinx. Built over 4,500 years ago, these monuments were part of a royal burial complex for the pharaohs Khufu, Khafre and Menkaure. As local guide and Egyptologist Ayman Prince puts it, “even after countless visits, the Pyramids and the Sphinx still blow my mind. The fact that we still don’t fully understand how they were built is mind-blowing. It’s like witnessing a miracle.”

You’ll have time to stand beneath the pyramids, gaze up at the Sphinx, snap photos and soak in their mystery before tucking into lunch at a local spot. Then, it’s off to the Grand Egyptian Museum – aka GEM. Opened in 2025, GEM is the world’s largest archaeological museum and a true showstopper. You’ll wander through the immersive exhibits, climb the Grand Staircase lined with giant artifacts and dive into stories that span thousands of years. Plus, it overlooks the Giza Plateau, so the views are just as impressive as the treasures inside.

The grand finale brings you to the Tutankhamun Gallery, where over 5,000 treasures from the boy king’s tomb are displayed together for the first time since their discovery, including golden masks, ancient jewels and symbols of eternity that are sure to leave you speechless. Then, to wrap up a day packed with mystery and discovery, you’ll head back across the desert to Hurghada.

You’ll have access to the pyramids site, but tickets to go inside the pyramids Khufu, Khafre and Menkaure aren’t included. These tickets are limited and can only be bought at the entrance, so entry isn’t always guaranteed.
Khufu costs about EGP 1500 for adults and EGP 750 for kids under 12
Khafre and Menkaure cost about EGP 280 for adults and EGP 140 for kids under 12
Payment is available only with a credit card

You can choose between a shared tour with set dates or a private tour that runs daily
Infants under two can join for free, sitting on a parent’s lap if seats are full
Pick-up starts just after midnight, and the drive from Hurghada to Cairo takes around six to seven hours
Timings can vary depending on traffic, hotel location and local conditions
Private tour prices are per person and include a guide and a vehicle
The six-person private group option is for up to 15 people max
Flash photography inside the museum is not permitted
