For generations the Algar Waterfalls have been known by locals as 'the source of health', and with a rejuvenating dip in its clear pools of cascading water, you'll discover why. Whatever way you spend your day, you'll be sure to enjoy an area of such natural beauty, it's often used as a paradisical setting for both TV and film.

From the 1st July-31st August and due to the large amount of visitor there will be visiting timeslots as follows:09:00-13:0013:00-16:0016:00-20:00
You will not be able to stay in the Algar waterfalls throughout the entire opening hours but only during the duration of one of the three timeslots, and you'll need to leave at the end of the chosen timeslot
In July and August food is not allowed
In ticket office number 2 there are free lockers where you can leave your food
There are several picnic areas
Bring water shoes as the rocks can sometimes be jagged
Durning December, January and February the falls are open from 9:00am until 3:30pm
Swimming in the river is allowed, and lifeguard services are available during Easter and the summer season. Outside of these periods, swimming is allowed at your own risk
Not suitable for wheelchairs
Transfers not included
Bring bathing gear and sunblock
Bring suitable footwear
Food and drinks not included
